Environmental Responsibility
Kemerton Silica Sand is a responsible company which recognises and values the rights of others and cares for the environment.
The Company also recognises that environmental performance relies upon education to improve the awareness and responsibility of all employees and contractors. Kemerton Silica Sand has a policy of minimising the impact of its operations on the environment and the operations are governed by strict environmental guidelines.
Ownership and management of approximately 20% of the freehold title has been transferred to the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). This area contains several wetlands of environmental significance and under DEC management will be preserved and protected in accordance with government policy.
Once current areas of mining have been rehabilitated to an acceptable standard, the rehabilitated areas will also be transferred to the management of DEC and preserved as long term wetland ecosystems.
